Senior Engineers Who Join Your Team, Not A Project We Run For You

You keep the product decisions, the priorities, and the process. We provide vetted engineers who plug directly into your team, on your tools, reporting to your leads.

1 week

Typical time to first engineer.

No lock-in

Scale up or down with notice.

Your stack

Engineers work in your existing tools.

Since 2013

Placing engineers with teams worldwide.

What Team Augmentation
Actually Means

It's not a project we deliver back to you. It's engineering capacity that becomes part of how your team already works, for as long as you need it.

You keep control

Your team leads still own the roadmap, the priorities, and the technical decisions. We don't run a separate process alongside yours, we work inside it.

We provide the people

You get senior engineers matched to the skills you're missing: a specific framework, a scarce specialty, or just more hands on a backlog that's outgrown your team.

No separate delivery process

There's no handoff, no separate sprint, no translation layer. Engineers attend your standups, use your board, and ship through your existing pipeline.

Flexible by design

Add one engineer or a full pod. Extend, pause, or wind down with notice, not a locked-in annual contract you can't adjust.

When Teams Usually Reach
For Augmentation

Your roadmap has outgrown your headcount

The backlog is real and funded, but hiring locally would take months you don't have.

You need a skill you can't find or don't need permanently

A specific framework, a legacy language, or deep expertise in something you'll only need for a defined stretch of work.

You want to try before you commit

Augmentation lets you work with engineers on real work before deciding whether to scale the relationship, no long-term contract required upfront.

You need to absorb a short-term surge

A launch, a migration, a compliance deadline, extra capacity for a defined period without changing your permanent headcount.

Who You're Actually Getting

Every engineer we place has already been building production software for us, on other engagements, before they ever join your team. Nobody is hired specifically to be placed with a client, untested.

SCREEN

Technical bar

Real code review and system design exercises, not multiple-choice tests. Most applicants don't pass this stage.

PROVE

Track record inside NUS

Engineers work on our own client projects first. Placement on augmentation engagements is earned, not a first assignment.

COMMUNICATE

English fluency

Every engineer we place is fluent enough to join your standups, write clear async updates, and push back on a requirement that doesn't make sense.

MATCH

Fit for your stack

We match on the specific languages, frameworks, and domain your project needs, not just general availability.

Senior-weighted

Most engineers we place have 5+ years of experience.

Internal track record

Every engineer has delivered on a prior NUS engagement.

Ongoing review

Performance is reviewed with you throughout the engagement.

"I hired NUS to work on our existing Airbnb management software. They communicated well with our team and provided high quality work in short time. Their English skills were also great in both verbal and writing. In the end I worked with multiple developers, business analysts and quality control in NUS over 3.5 years. I'm very satisfied with their service. I think they are very good at building cloud based software and mobile apps."

Even One Engineer Isn't Working Alone

Backed by more than one person

Hire a single engineer and they're still not on their own. A Tech Lead is available to unblock hard problems, and where we feel it protects the quality of the work, we'll bring in QA or PM support at our own discretion, at no extra cost to you.

A Tech Lead on call for hard problems. If your engineer hits something outside their depth, a senior Tech Lead is available to unblock them.

QA support, when we judge it's needed. On engagements where an extra check protects quality, we'll add QA review ourselves, at no charge to you.

PM support, offered the same way. If coordination would benefit the engagement, we may provide it at no extra cost, based on what the project needs.

It's part of how we protect quality across every engagement, offered at our discretion rather than something added to the invoice.

How Engineers Integrate With Your Team

The goal is that within a couple of weeks, it should feel like they were always on the team. That means fitting into how you already work, not asking you to adapt to us.

Your tools

Engineers work directly in your existing stack: your repo, your task board, your CI/CD, your chat tool. Nothing new for your team to learn.

SlackTeamsJiraLinearYour repo & CI

Your rituals

Standups, sprint planning, retros, code review, whatever cadence your team already runs, engineers attend and participate exactly like any other team member.

Your reporting line

Engineers report to your engineering lead or PM. We stay involved to support them and handle anything administrative, but we don't sit between them and your team.

Getting Started

Every issue gets triaged by severity, not handled first-in-first-out. A checkout outage doesn't wait behind a cosmetic bug report.

WEEK 0

Tell us what you need

01

The skills, the seniority, the expected time commitment, and any specifics about your stack or domain. Most requests take one conversation to scope.

WITHIN DAYS

We propose a match

02

You review the engineer's background and talk to them directly before anything is confirmed. If they're not the right fit, we propose someone else, at no cost to you.

FIRST WEEK

Onboarding & Ramp-up

03

Access provisioned, codebase walkthrough, and close check-ins to make sure the engineer is actually contributing, not just observing.

ONGOING

Business as usual

04

Regular check-ins between us and you to confirm things are working. If your needs change, we adjust the engagement, add capacity, shift skills, or wind down with notice.

Simple, Predictable Commitment

Monthly, per engineer

You commit to a minimum block of hours per engineer each month.
No project markup, no hidden staffing fees layered on top.

Priced per engineer, per month, scoped to the seniority and skillset you need.

A minimum monthly commitment, agreed upfront, no surprise invoices.

Scale the number of engineers up or down as your needs change.

Standard notice period to adjust or end the engagement, no long lock-in contract.

Replacement at no extra cost if an engineer isn't the right fit.

How This Compares

Augmentation sits between hiring locally and handing a project to a traditional outsourcing vendor.

Team Augmentation
Hiring Locally
Traditional Outsourcing
Time to start
Days to a couple of weeks.
Months, from sourcing to onboarding.
Weeks, but often locked into a fixed scope first.
Who manages the work
Your team, directly.
Your team, directly.
The vendor's own PM, at a distance.
Flexibility to scale
Add or remove engineers with notice.
Slow, tied to hiring and severance.
Usually locked to the original contract.
Cost overhead
One monthly rate, no recruiting or benefits cost.
Salary plus benefits, payroll, and recruiting cost.
Often includes a project management markup.
Code & IP ownership
Yours from day one.
Yours from day one.
Varies by vendor and contract.

Questions Clients Usually Ask

Can we interview the engineer before committing?

PlusMinus
Yes. We propose a match based on your requirements, but you talk to the engineer directly before anything is confirmed. If it's not the right fit, we propose someone else.

Who owns the code an augmented engineer writes?

PlusMinus
You do, entirely, the same as every other engagement we run. It's pushed to your repository and deployed to your infrastructure from the start.

What if the engineer isn't working out?

PlusMinus
Tell us and we'll propose a replacement at no additional cost. Fit issues are rare once someone has passed our internal vetting, but we'd rather fix it fast than have you stuck with a bad match.

Can augmentation turn into a bigger engagement?

PlusMinus
Often it does. Many clients start with one engineer to test the relationship, then expand to a small pod, or bring us in for a larger build once trust is established.

Do we need our own PM to manage them?

PlusMinus
Not necessarily. Most clients manage augmented engineers directly through their existing lead or PM. If you'd rather not, we can also provide a PM as part of the engagement.

What's the minimum commitment?

PlusMinus
A minimum monthly hour commitment per engineer, agreed before the engagement starts. There's no long fixed-term contract beyond that.
